Today's Meeting 8/23/10

Today was the deadline for all applications. Mrs. Olsen also was collecting permission forms for Shakespeare Tavern. She still has a couple of rides available, so if you still need to turn in your form, do so ASAP! Also, our president went over all the important dates for this semester. You can download the handout under our google group (look to the right of this post for the link). We also distributed t-shirt forms. New members automatically receive a free t-shirt, but if you would like a long-sleeved shirt or hoodie, you will need to fill out the form and turn in your money by Friday. All returning members can purchase t-shirts or hoodies by filling out the form and returning it by Friday. The forms are also located in the google group.

Applications

This is a reminder that all NEHS applications are due to Mrs. Lusher in T-10 by Monday, August 23rd. We will also be having a meeting at 2:30pm on Monday in the Media Center. You may bring your application to the meeting. Hopefully, t-shirt order forms will be given out, and we will have a calendar to discuss.

Officers will be meeting in T-22 at 2:30pm next Tuesday, August 24th. Bring your fundraising ideas and we will be working on paper work.

Informational Meeting

NEHS will be having an informational meeting on Monday, August 16th at 2:30pm in the Media Center. This meeting is for all students looking to join, and for current members looking to re-new (free of cost) their memberships for the 2010-2011 school year. We will be handing out applications, calendars, and permission forms. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Mrs. Lusher in T-22 or Mrs. Olsen in Room 120.

Also, if you are not already a member, please join our google group to have access to all documents. To join the group enter your email address in the box to the left and you will receive an invitation to join.

T-shirt Sneak Peek

We were given a small sneak peek at this year's NEHS shirt today....


Shirt orders were completed this week and all new members will be receiving a short-sleeved t-shirt. Returning members and new members were given the option to purchase long-sleeved t-shirts and hoodies, which will be the same design and colors.

All shirts will be ready for pick-up beginning after school next Friday, in T-10!
On various days throughout the year we ask NEHS members to wear their shirt and promote NEHS school wide. You would be surprised what an impact 120 students all wear the same shirt can make! The first day we will all wear our shirts is Friday, Sept. 11th. This is the night after our induction ceremony and will demonstrate the unity we all will share. Spread the word!

Wow - Information Meeting Overload!

We had about 200 students show up for the NEHS meeting today. Wow. We totally didn't expect that kind of turn out! If you did not receive an application, please pick one up from T-10 or T-3 tomorrow. All applications are due Monday to Mrs. Lusher.

The first NEHS meeting of the 2009-2010 school year is tomorrow (Monday, 8/17) at 2:30pm in T-10!! Get there early to get a seat! We are so excited to see everyone back for another AWESOME year with NEHS!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to another great year at NGHS! Your sponsors and officers already have a great year planned for you! Make sure you pick up a flier on Open House night from your English teacher or stop by T-10, T-3, or T-4.

We will have our information meeting on Monday, August 17th at 2:30 in T-10. This is when the officers and sponsors will address all questions and go over the requirements. The applications will also be given out. This meeting will last about 30 minutes due to the amount of information we have to give you.

We will have our first official NEHS meeting the following Monday, August 24th at 2:30 in T-10. This meeting will be very short and we will be collecting money and applications and taking t-shirt orders. Most likely it will be over by 2:45pm.

We are also very excited to announce our speaker series for this fall. We have many prominent professionals from around Atlanta coming to speak once a month on their profession and how it relates to English/Literature/Speaking/Writing/Etc. These speaker series are MANDATORY (like your induction ceremony) events. You must clear your schedule now for these once a month events. They will last approx. 30 minutes - 1 hour (depending on the speaker). If for some reason you can not attend, please see one of the sponsors to be excused.

Our August Speaker Series will be on Monday, August 31st at 2:30pm, location TBA. The speaker will be Matt Felten from the Shakespeare Tavern. You may remember him as Hamlet, Puck, or Tiny Tim from last year's performances we attended. He will be speaking on his career and he will have an extended Q & A session.
